Emil Herker - Reflection in Gallery by the Harbour

Reflection by Emil Herker @ Gallery by the Harbour 20 Dec 08 to 18 Jan 09
What is so fascinating about reflections that attracts Emil to paint them one after another? Reflections are always different, depending on texture, light, viewing angle, and many others. It is like a miniature of the globe, with different minds developing in different countries because of their own culture. Have you ever thought of what will happen when these opposite ends meet? Maybe it is like the many reflections on one single crystal, emitting magnificent light and sparkles. In this sense, Emil also tries to deliver a major philosophy behind his paintings that objects carry different symbolic meaning in various cultures.

¡¥Global Heart-Warming¡¦ by Margit Denz (Austria) at Gallery by the Harbour, 21 Jan to 17 Feb 09

With only one word different, global warming and Global Heart-Warming share neither the origin nor the end product; while the former relates to humans physically and aims to destroy, the latter connects to human hearts and aspires to heal. Global Heart-Warming is a mission originated in Austria and carried out by millions of ceramic hearts, each heart carefully hand-crafted by Margit Denz, an internationally renowned artist who had held numerous exhibitions in museums and galleries worldwide. Through various forms of her handmade hearts, Margit hopes to spread the joy of life and sensuality across the world and touch every human¡¦s heart with warmth carried by her hearts.
